President Nana Akufo-Addo praised Parliament for the bipartisan approval of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Ata.
The minister was unanimously approved by voice vote on the ground on Monday, March 29, 2021.
According to President Akufu-ado, this was the best gift for his 77th birthday from home that I came across the same day.
He said, “I commend Parliament for the bipartisan unanimous manner in which it did its work, and I am grateful to the House of Representatives for giving me a good birthday gift with the minister’s approval on my birthday.”
President Akufo-Addo revealed this at the swearing-in ceremony of Mr. Ofori-Ata on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Jubilee House.
He added: “I am happy that he has fully recovered from his health and made history by being the first minister in the life of our nation to be examined for two consecutive days in the committee’s hearings.”
The President said, among other things, that Mr Ofori-Atta’s reappointment was a result of the competence he showed in his first term.
“He made a strong defense of his record in office as Finance Minister as of February 17, 2017, when he inherited a weak and faltering economy from the Mahama administration and helped restore the economy to good health by January 6, 2021,” he praised.
The President also emphasized that the well-being of Ghanaians remains the primary consideration for public policy, and then assigned Mr Ofori-Atta to provide the leadership needed to improve the standard of living.
