Alhassan Azari Daniel, chief mortuary at Bolgatanga Hospital, recounted how he saved the life of a 9-year-old boy who was declared dead and nearly hospitalized.
Al Hassan, as is known, told the harrowing story in an exclusive interview with Dreamz FM.
While providing a detailed account of some of the weird and unforgettable experiences of working as a cadaver man for over 20 years, he said he was on his regular duty and got a call from the nurses in the children’s ward to pick up a 9-year-old’s dead body.
On reaching the bed where the boy was lying, he wrapped the small body and placed it on the corpse carriage and returned to the morgue.
According to Al-Hassan, as he approached the morgue, the little boy coughed and sneezed around the same time.
“When he sneezed and coughed, I immediately stopped and carried him gently over my shoulder and took him back to the ward. The nurses started asking me why I had come back there with the dead body, but I went straight to the bed and put him there. I told them the boy was not dead. They were surprised.
He explained that the boy was taken care of immediately and was subsequently discharged from the hospital after making a full recovery.
