1 Department of Physicians’ Assistance – Medicine

Admission requirements

The applicant must have a High School Certificate (SSSCE) with a score of 24 or a West African General Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with a score of 36 or better which must include credits in three main areas: English, Mathematics, Integrated Science and three electives in the following: Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.




State Registered Nurses (SRN) and Registered Midwives will be exempt from Level 100 courses and be eligible for admission to Level 200.

Physician assistant and general nursing diploma as well as holders of a bachelor’s degree in life sciences (biochemistry, biological sciences, sports and exercise medicine, psychology) will be considered for admission to level 300 of the program and thus will be able to complete the program in two years.

Mature applicants must be at least 25 years old at the time of admission and must possess either five GCE O-Level credits including English and Mathematics or WASSCE / SSCE with credits in three core subjects (English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science) plus three subjects Elective (Chemistry, Biology, and Physics).

Foreign students may be considered for admission if they possess a qualification equivalent to those mentioned above, and have demonstrated that they are proficient in the English language, and the equivalent qualifications include; Levels A, High School Diplomas.

Holders of a Diploma in Community Medicine must be placed in 3Research and development After one year of an additional course or before enrollment, determined by the college.

Entry requirements

Entry groups and their requirements for the program are:

  1. Applicants seeking admission to a Bachelor’s degree. The dental treatment program must have a High School Certificate (SHSCE) score of 24 or better or a West African High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with a score of 36 or better. Applicants are required to obtain credit certificates in three basic subjects, namely: English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and three electives: Chemistry, Biology, Elective Mathematics, or Physics.
  2. Community Oral Health Officers (COHOs) will have exemptions from Level 100 and 200 courses and will be eligible for admission to Level 300. Registered Dental Surgery Assistants (RDSA) will also receive exemptions from Level 100 courses and be eligible for admission to Level 200.
  • Medical assistant and general nursing diploma, as well as holders of a bachelor’s degree in life sciences (biochemistry, biological sciences, sports and exercise medicine, and psychology) will be considered for admission to level 200 of the program.
