Meaning of the Adinkra symbols on Asante Kotoko’s new home and away jerseys


Ghanaian football giants and IFFHS’ African Club of the 20th Century, Asante Kotoko has marked its 86th Anniversary with the launch of its kits for the upcoming 2021/2022 season.

The club has outdoored its home and away kits today to be used for the upcoming season.

The home jersey is traditional red decorated with Adinkra symbols and the away kit is also yellow with Adinkra symbols on it.

Many are yet to understand why Kotoko decided to inculcate tradition into the design of their jersey.

Adinkra symbols have decorative functions but also represent objects that encapsulate evocative messages that convey traditional wisdom and aspects of life.
