On Wednesday, April 14, the circuit court in Accra Polo was found guilty after pleading guilty to charges of publishing obscene material and two counts of domestic violence for posting a nude photo of her son in 2020.

On Friday, April 16th, she was sentenced to three months in prison for these charges.




Despite calls for indulgence across social media platforms, this is not the first time that a celebrity has been hit with a prison sentence.

Daseper Gyamera

In 2006, Highlife musician Daasebre Gyamena was jailed in the United Kingdom for possession of substances suspected to be cocaine when he got off a British Airways flight from Accra.

The Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Isaac Abiko Ido, CEO of Goodies Production, to 13 years in prison.

He tried to export 80 cocaine to London.

The trial of the accused ended abruptly when he apologized in his defense and called on the court to be lenient with him because he did not intend to engage in any drug trade.

He was slapped for 13 years each on charges of possession and attempting to export drugs without legal authority.

He was sentenced by the Accra Fast Track High Court in September 2011 for possessing and attempting to export 4.9 kilograms of cocaine hidden in four yams.

He died Thursday in Nisawam prison, where he was serving a 15-year prison sentence for drug smuggling.

Sima died after suffering an injury in a football match.

Before his death, Sima complained of a headache.

He passed away on Thursday 4 December 2014 in the police hospital after being rushed.

Supreme Court Judge William Boompong sentenced Kwau Casey to one day in prison and ordered him to pay a fine of 1,200 Japanese yen.

Kwau Casey paid the fine and served a one-day prison sentence.

The musician was held in pretrial detention for more than a month in Kumasi Central Prison before being released on bail on December 30, 2014.

Ramzi Amoy

William Ramsey Amoy popularly known as Ramsey, who was the first runner-up on the First Edition of Future Stars, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2010.

Ramzy and eight others pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, armed robbery and breach of trust

His lawyer, Captain Nekrabia Chastity, was not in court at the time of the verdict.

While prosecuting the case, the Prosecutor, Ms. Hilda Worounyouni, told the court that the complainant in the case, Ms. Cynthia Coda, a businesswoman residing in Tema on January 23, 2007, reported an armed robbery to the Tema Regional Police.

He was sentenced to death by hanging in 1995 and released by a presidential pardon in 2009 by the outgoing President Kufuor.




He spent 14 years in prison and is currently a priest.
