For years, Rebecca Roberts and her partner Reese Weaver have suffered from infertility. Then, last year, with the help of fertility drugs, Roberts discovered she was pregnant – and during pregnancy, she got pregnant again.

Roberts: “This shouldn’t happen at all, especially in humans.” He said on her Instagram page.

But Roberts said she felt lucky to have this happen to her, as she gave birth to so-called “super-twins,” who were born on the same day but are three weeks apart in September.

It is only one of a handful of known cases of “excellent lactation”, and it may hold the record for the longest period between pregnancies. Previous cases include women who became pregnant again 10 days after conceiving the first time.

Roberts said on social media that holding this title is “really cool”.

Three highly improbable events must occur for a metastatic pregnancy to be possible

Reproduction occurs when a second egg is fertilized by a sperm and implants in the uterus after the fertilized egg has already done so.

It’s almost impossible, because when a woman gets pregnant, her bodies release hormones to prevent ovulation or the release of another egg. Their bodies also prevent sperm from entering the cervix and release hormones to prevent a second fertilized egg from implanting into the uterine wall.

All three of these mechanisms must worsen for an overload to occur, usually due to fertility treatments. Healthline explains. Roberts said her fertility drugs affected ovulation, allowing her to ovulate again three weeks after her first pregnancy.

An overload comes with risks because fetuses develop at different stages of pregnancy. Roberts was told that her youngest child, whom they have named Rosalie ever since, may not survive. According to Good Morning America.

“What happened after the pregnancy was just amazing hard work,” Roberts told the GMA. “Not everything was as happy and rainbows as you’d expect the pregnancy to be. It was very scary.”

Roberts was induced at 33 weeks because a problem with Rosalie’s umbilical cord prevented her from developing properly.

Roberts’ son, Noah, weighed four pounds 10 ounces and Wozalee weighed two pounds and seven ounces. Both children spent some time in the NICU.

Just before Christmas, the whole family is reunited at home. All of them are fine.

“Our kids are so amazing,” Roberts said on Instagram. “They are really special and I feel very happy that I am their mother and I am sharing this wonderful journey with them.”
